Dear DOJ,
Maybe this is something you could follow up on. I was in Miami, FL in August of 1987. That was when Pope John Paul II was visiting the USA . I was in Miami to see the Pope, just like many, many other Catholics.
While I was there, I saw George Zimmerman, and I know it was him because I have never forgotten this incident. I was getting some Cuban food on Calle Ocho at the Versailles Restaurant, 3555 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33135. That’s in the West Flagler neighborhood.
He was coming out of the restaurant with a bunch of bakery items, in a box tied up with a bow that was multi-colored, like maybe a rainbow? You know? One kid on the street saw him and said, “That’s so gay!”
And Zimmerman said, “I am not gay!!”
He had a look on his face which looked kind of --- not quite hostile, but more like, annoyed. Even to the level of, aggravated. Like there was something wrong with being gay? You know?
So I’m pretty sure he’s a homophobe. That’s a hate crime, isn’t it?
I'm completely down with, “See something? Say something.”
Hope this helps.
